Center Drivers Options
Like with the Trio15, also Quintet15 configuration is defined by its Center Driver.
The two most popular configurations are: Quintet15 w/ Horn1 and Quintet15 w/ Voxativ AC-1.6 center drivers.
Both offer all the scale and realism of a true wall of sound Open Baffle Speaker. Soundstage is not only wide but also high with unprecedented feel of sonic mass and presence.
The new Coax10″ center driver features a custom made mid-range driver and a horn tweeter, carefully voiced with top audiophile grade crossover. The Quintet15 with Coax10″ is an open baffle take on a three way system, pushing the sonic performances to an edge but without losing the organic and emotionally involving music experience.
Here are Quintet15 Center Drivers Options:
- Quintet15 Horn1, with PureAudioProject PAP-Horn1 driver.
- Quintet15 Voxativ, with Voxativ AC-1.6, AC-PiFe or AC-X Field Coil drivers.
- Quintet15 Coax10 (NEW), with PureAudioProject 10″ Coaxial driver.
- All models are interchangeable and upgradeable.
- Quintet15 with Horn1 and Voxativ center drivers work with our Thrier passive, upgradeable, crossover.
- Quintet15 with Coax10 center driver comes with a Mundorf Silver Gold Oil grade dedicated crossover.
- Quintet15 also works with PAP-C1, analog active crossover designed by Nelson Pass for PureAudioProject configurations.
Horn1 Center Driver
Horn1, is a wide range (550hz and up) horn driver designed specifically for our Trio15 and Quintet15. It features a 1.4″ compression driver with a strong Neodymium motor and soft Polymer dome. Horn1 presents a smooth and pleasant sonic signature, with superb clarity and resolution, and no typical ‘horn harshness’ whatsoever.
With numerous customers feedbacks, the Quintet15 w/ Horn1 was also described by Herb Reichert from Stereophile as an Open Baffle Speaker that was ‘made right’. “To my ears, done-right describes the Pure Audio Project’s Quintet15 Horn1 Modular Open Baffle Loudspeakers ($9995) I auditioned at CAF… Coherent, full, large, relaxed, open, and naturally detailed, with no hi-fi unnaturalness.”;

Voxativ Center Drivers
The Voxativ AC-1.6 full range driver is just a natural match to operate in Quintet15. It plays with superb realism, a beautiful presence, and sonic finesse that Voxativ drivers are so popular for. Clarity and resolution is all there in a very natural sounding, smooth and pleasant way. Quintet15 with Voxativ AC-1.6 is a unique example for a balance between true high-end sonic performances and real-life emotionally moving music experience.
We also offer the Voxativ AC-PiFe driver, with a wood cone that presents even more presence and refinement, as well as the magical Field Coil AC-X driver, a driver that sets a league of its own.
Coax10″ Center Drivers
Our new Coax10 is a paper cone midrange and a Horn Tweeter on one axis. The sonic signature of the 10″ mid woofers and the 15″ woofers is very similar, making music sound real and organic along the entire low and mid frequency range. In addition, the horn Tweeter features the same dome as our popular Horn1, though it is limited to high frequencies only.

I did see the email about the Coax 10″ mid/high option for the Trio 15, is this also a possible option for the Quintet 15 as well? Not that I am necessarily wanting to change anything at the moment, but just curious. Always interested in further tinkering, which is one of the many reasons I enjoy these speakers so much.
