The Trio15 Classic is our raved Trio15 with two options for Voxativ center driver, in a unique ready-made out-of-the-box Open Baffle Enclosure. “These are speakers that honor the music” wrote Ken Redmond in his review at The AudioBeatnik; and Steve Guttenberg who “was blown away and changed by these speakers”, granted the Trio15 Classic with ‘BEST OF 2019’ award and included them in his ‘SPEAKERS HALL OF FAME’.
Steve Guttenberg concluded his listening experience with a very simple statement: “They liberate the music…”, and indeed, the Trio15 Classic have it all, huge soundstage, warmth, transparency, resolution, clarity, true sense of real-life, and beautiful sonic finesse; but above all, they play ‘music’ more than they play ‘sound’.
Build and Audio Components
Architecture
Just like all our Modular Trio15 and Quintet15 speakers, also the Trio15 Classic is a D’appolito configuration, with two woofers connected in parallel and a Full Range driver in the center.
This symmetrical configuration creates a ‘sonic center of mass’ that together with the Full Range Center Driver make the whole speaker sound and feel as a true point source speaker, i.e. music is playing from one and not multiple points.
Woofers
Trio15 Classic features our proprietary audiophile 15″ woofers, the OB-A15NEO.
The OB-A15NEO is a fast driver that excels performing deep bass, as well as full body midrange.
This allows smooth integration with the most refined and fast-responce center drivers.
Center Drivers
Trio15 Classic comes with one of the following center drivers: Voxativ AC-1.6 or AC-PiFe.
The AC-1.6 is a no compromise super light paper-cone full range driver. It presents all the clarity and resolution, while all sounds effortless, smooth and extremely natural, with a beautiful sonic finesse.
Though the AC-1.6 is a superb performer that has it all, the AC-PiFe features a unique wood-cone that adds to the sound an unprecedented feel of sonic mass, mainly in the midrange. With AC-PiFe, the Trio15 sounds even more realistic and organic to a truly addicting level.
Passive Crossovers
Trio15 Classic is supplied with our Thrier Crossover. The Thrier is a modular crossover with series or parallel topology. It is a two way first order crossover with all components mounted by you onto gold screw terminal with only a screwdrivers.
The Thrier allows swapping the components to experiment various brands and grades of capacitors, resistors and wiring… No soldering nor any technical skills are required.
Optional: Bi-Amping
For Bi-Amping fans we offer the PAP-C1, an Active Analog Crossover, designed and manufactured for PureAudioProject by Nelson Pass FirstWatt; and the ‘Bi-Amping Distribution Board‘ for easy wiring.

“… these Classic 15 speakers demonstrated they could be elegant and graceful, yet at the same time, they were dynamic and exciting. For example, they gave me a great introspective look into a classical music performance. Then, when switching to a gritty, angry, industrial rock song, they perfectly replicated a highly distorted electric guitar. It sounds funny to say that they “accurately reproduced distortion!” However, it speaks to the “do-anything” character of these speakers and their ability to faithfully reproduce any genre of music… The perfect synergy between the amplifier and speakers was evident as the volume was increased. Despite “only” having 8.4 watts per channel, the Whammerdyne amplifier drove these speakers to uncomfortable levels, with no signs of letting up. Clearly, there was plenty of horsepower and headroom inside this less than 10 watts per channel amplifier. This allowed for effortless dynamic swings that came from a completely silent background.
